You may recognize buildings or terraces because right in front of you is the Uilenburg, the district from the beginning of this city walk.
To your right, across the street at 28a is Kollenburg brewery. Cross the street and head over to it.
You look into the shop window of a city brewery and a beer shop in one. The Kollenburg city brewery is part of one organization that consists of three companies. Together with the café ‘Bar le Duc’, which is just around the corner and Bistro ‘la Duchesse’, which is located on the first floor of the building, they make all beers with the name Kolleke. The brewery was founded in 1999 by father and son Kollenburg. Initially the beers were brewed elsewhere, but in 2004 a brewing equipment from Hungary was installed. Thus, in September 2007, the official opening of brewery ‘t Kolleke took place. The building, here at number 28 Kruisstraat, dates from the middle of the 19th century and has borne names such as ‘de Kemel’ and ‘de Hopzak’.
It is connected via a passage to the Bar le Duc café, which is located in a building whose walls and the cellar were built in the Middle Ages. This café offers an assortment of no less than 130 specialty beers.
Feel free to visit inside the brewery and taste a delicious Kolleke. When you’re done or if you prefer to keep moving, with the brewery on your left, walk towards the old Port of Den Bosch.
