The Wilhelmina brigde in Den Bosch, with its crowns
the Chronicle of 's-Hertogenbosch on the Wilhelmina bridge
also available in Dutch

“This Wilhelmina bridge is named after the former queen Wilhelmina”

Continue to the bridge and walk across it.

This bridge is named after the former queen Wilhelmina, the great grandmother of our current King Willem Alexander. This is the reason for the crowns on the pillars. This bridge was completed in 1954 after an earlier bridge in this location was destroyed during the Second World War. The bridge is decorated with a sculpture by Frans van der Burgt called ‘the Chronicle of ‘s-Hertogenbosch’. It depicts important events that influenced Den Bosch over the years.

You are now walking over the river Dommel, a stream that is 120 km long and has its origin in the Kempen in Belgium.

It flows via the Binnendieze into the Dieze, behind the former Verkade factory, which you can see on the horizon, if you look to the left.
