On your right is the entrance to bakery Jan de Groot. Stop next to it for a moment.
Here they sell the now very well-known Bossche Bol. A Bossche Bol is a large choux with a diameter of about 12 centimeters, filled with whipped cream and covered with a layer of chocolate. At the bottom is a small hole where the confectioner can inject the whipped cream during preparation. All my life I have turned the Bossche Bol over and eaten it completely through the hole. Then, of course, I eat all the chocolate as well.
I also remember that I once had a Dutch spelling test, where I learned that you write Bossche Bol with two ss’s, while in Den Bosch there is only one.
You can visit the bakery if you like. Other cafés later in the route also sell it, usually referred to with the dragon logo as advertisement.
When you’re ready, continue straight on towards the Wilhelmina bridge.
