Turn left into Ridderstraat.
First of all you will see the café Royaal and as you have just heard or read, this name was connected to the origin of the carnival in Den Bosch or rather Oeteldonk, as the city is called during these days. It is therefore logical that this pub organizes a lot around these festivities.
For example, they are co-organizers of the so-called Worstenbroadway. An event on the Thursday before Carnival, where this street is already packed with carnival celebrants and free sausage rolls are handed out by the participating cafes. The Broadway paving stones are fun to read.
This street also has a personal meaning for me because I worked here two winters in a wine tavern. I became friends with the founders of speciality coffee store Fortin. It is highly recommended to drink a nice cup of coffee here. As the owners themselves say;
“We provide the ultimate coffee experience. Here you can taste how versatile coffee can be”
In terms of history, this street was already mentioned in 1549 and is linked to number 15 with the name ‘the Knight St. George’.
