You’re going to turn right into the Stoofstraat, but before you do, stop and take a look at the beautiful building at number 42 of the Postelstraat.
From 1613 to 1629, gold, silver and copper coins were minted in this building, which is therefore known as “De Munt”, which is Dutch for ‘The Coin’. The piping hot coins were then cooled in the Binnendieze, which flows behind De Munt.
When you’re ready, continue into the Stoofstraat. This street owes its name to the bathhouses that were located in this street in earlier times. Such a house was called ‘stove’, hence the name Stoofstraat.
