Turn left here to cross the Binnendieze. At the beginning of the bridge, on the right, is a frog with an umbrella. It’s there for a reason, of course. Many Bosschenaren have models of frogs at home. It is the symbol for the Oeteldonk carnival. Oetel means frog and Donk stands for swamp. During the carnival days in Oeteldonk you will therefore see these frogs everywhere.

Continue walking into the Capucijnenpoort. Until 1613 this street was called ‘het oude Waterstraatje, the old little water street, which probably had to do with the Binnendieze.

Keep going through the Capucijnenpoort until you reach the Postelstraat.

Extra:

Funny detail; by editing this city walk it came to the result that this item is the 11th item in this tour. 11 is THE  number for Carnival. Carnival starts on the 11th of the 11th. There are 11 people in the ‘Council of Eleven’. And every 11 years an anniversary is celebrated.

Had to be that way!

Many numbers have a symbolic meaning. We call the number 11 the crazy number because it can only be divided by itself and because 11 is between 10 which they call the perfect number and 12, which is seen as the sacred number.
